Written and Directed by: Scott Frank
Plot: A young career outlaw has a falling out with his papa, a charismatic and deeply twisted leader of a gang, which leads to a protracted duel between the two men, in which a couple of New Mexico’s towns get shot up into smithereens. Including the town of La Belle, inhabited almost exclusively by women.
Pros: The conflict is Shakespearean; Jeff Daniels is the perfect arch-villain.
Cons: Brutally and unnecessarily bloody.
