Directed byPaul McGuigan

Written byBarry Unsworth (novel), Mark Mills (screenplay)

Year: 2003

Plot: A priest escaping the law joins a band of traveling actors, who soon roll into a town plagued by mysterious disappearances of young boys. The actors decide to put up a play based on the story of the most recent murder. Social unrest ensues.

Pros: Medieval ‘whodunnit’, well done.

Cons: The editor and cinematographer were clearly bored, so they decided to jazz things up which doesn’t always work to the benefit of the scene.
