Harlock: Space Pirate

Harlock: Space PirateStarring
Yû Aoi, Ayano Fukuda, Arata Furuta

Directed byShinji Aramaki

Written byLeiji Matsumoto (manga), Kiyoto Takeuchi & Harutoshi Fukui (screenplay)

Year: 2013

Plot: Legendary and immortal (hexed by the black matter- not a trifle) captain Harlock (pronounced Har-rok) goes into full battle mode against the machiavellian forces of the Gaia Coalition, led by the appropriately geriatric Emperor.

Pros: Manga-inspired steam punk CGI extravaganza.

Cons: Incoherent at times, thanks to the combined effort of the casual relationship anime usually has with logic, truncated English translation, and Sci-Fi lingo, full of Jupiterian Orgasmoplasters and what not.
