Directed by: Cary Fukunaga
Plot: The trials and tribulations of a young governess, softening the heart of her wannabe Byronic, cynic employer.
Pros: Earnest and well done, albeit stripping the original story to bare bones. Beautiful costumes and strong leads; that being said Fassbender is a mild, sensitive new age type of Rochester.
Cons: Once you brush aside four out of the five shorelines of the original book, it becomes a soppy melodrama, devoid of its sharp criticism of the brutalities of the early modern age.
