Directed by: Bille August
Plot: Set in Chile family saga, spanning six decades, from 1920-ties onward. Magical realism mixes with harsh realities of military juntas and social unrest.
Pros: Strong cast, although what do those WASP-y Anglos do playing Chileans we don’t know.
Cons: It drags from one detached vignette to the next, doing its literary source a disservice.
