Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries

imgresStarring: Essie DavisNathan PageHugo Johnstone-Burt

Directed by: A whole slew of directors, which Netflix doesn’t bother to list (?!); you can find the names on IMDB.

Written by: As above.

Year: 2012

Plot: Honorable Miss Phryne Fisher is rich, single, glamorous and bored – a perfect combo to start a career as a lady detective in the swinging 1920 Melbourne.

Pros: Dahhhling – the costumes are simply divine! Divine! We’re also seriously into the sexual innuendo between Phryne and Detective John Robinson – after watching the first series we still didn’t loose hope that they will end up in bed, eventually.

Cons: The plot isn’t always tight, and writing varies from one episode to the next, but with titles such as ‘Cocaine Blues’, and ‘Away with the Fairies’, who bloody cares! Garçon, more Champagne!
