In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege TaleStarring: Jason StathamLeelee SobieskiJohn Rhys-DaviesRon PerlmanRay LiottaBurt Reynolds,

Directed byUwe Boll

Year: 2007

Plot: When bad people harm Jason Statham’s loved-ones, he kills the bad people. It’s personal. Evil dictatorships fall in the wake of his anger. Swords shall be broken, spells shall be cast, bustiers shall be ripped.

Pros: Look at the cast – we mean just look at it! Ray Liotta brims with evil energy when he smirks, snipes and levitates. Burt Reynolds is The Most Interesting King in the World never to have been employed by Dos Equis. Leelee Sobieski looks positively Joan d’Arc-ish in her shiny armor with conical breastplates. And there is of course Jason Statham doing what he does best: looking like he just lost a battle with a major hangover.

Cons: It is an Uwe Boll movie so certain suckitude goes with the territory. The soundtrack is Wagnerian, plot highly formulaic, Ray Liotta’s wardrobe – clearly a left-over from Matrix.
